This isn’t your typical upper-midscale branded hotel. Located at the heart of a vibrant, mixed-use community called MOSAIC at Chatham Park, this hotel is a true celebration of local culture. From the two-story pottery wall to a rotating gallery featuring works by emerging talent, art is woven into every corner.
A Custom Design for a Unique Community
From the beginning, AKDG worked closely with the owner to create a one-of-a-kind property that goes beyond the standard Hampton experience. This meant designing elevated suites for corporate travelers, sourcing local artwork and carefully selecting each element – from the rustic barnwood floors to the lobby’s striking light fixture – to reflect the spirit of Pittsboro.
Overcoming Challenges, Elevating Design
AKDG went above and beyond our typical design process to really help bring this property to life. Our team managed procurement, coordinated directly with artists, and solved last-minute design changes. Even as supply chain delays stretched the timeline by 12 months, our commitment to the project never wavered.
Local Artistry at the Heart
One of this hotel’s most distinctive features is its celebration of local art. In collaboration with the Chatham Arts Council, AKDG sourced works from local artists to transform the hotel into a living gallery. From pottery by Mark Hewitt to art installations in the stairwells, every piece was chosen to connect guests with the local community. The developer even launched an artist-in-residence program to further support Chatham’s creative spirit.
